BAYSIDE VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORPS First Call 1955
He is some history for you people.
On election day, November 8th, 1955, at 10:00 A.M., Art Meier received the first emergency call for the Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Responding swiftly, Frank Hatton and George Elffort rushed to the scene where Mrs. Savage, a 78-year-old woman, had fallen down a flight of stairs at 33-28 208th Street. Demonstrating their dedication and expertise, they provided immediate assistance and transported Mrs. Savage to Manhasset Hospital for further medical attention. This historic call marked the beginning of Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps' commitment to serving the community in times of crisis.
